Happy Thanksgiving!

Although I am from England and don't celebrate Thanksgiving, I thought it would be a brilliant opportunity to share the things I am thankful and grateful for.

I am trying to make more time to think about these things and jot them down in my diary so I can I always look back at them and smile.

A loving, kind and supportive husband who is my rock in everything I do

A job that I enjoy and my brilliant colleagues.

My health.

My Bailey Boo and all his cheeky ways.

All the trips away and adventures we go on.

My very own little abode that I can fill with all my treasures.

And lastly my amazing family, I wouldn't be the person I am today without them and I cannot be more thankful for that.

Have a brilliant weekend!

Photos that make me smile

I have seen a lot of people on Facebook sharing 5 photo's that make them smile, so I thought I would do a little post with some pictures that never fail to make me smile.

This one is of me and the girls on Hayley's 18th birthday. I can't believe that's nearly 6 years ago now! We have been friends since nursery school and are still good friends now!

This is actually a print screen of one of them Christmas videos you can make. My mum made it last Christmas, it was hilarious! It always makes me laugh.

Of course Bailey Boo is on here! Look how chilled he looks!

This is when we first got Bailey and he used to sit on the sofa with us. He is only about 15 weeks old on this photo.

One of my favourite photographs from the wedding. I always forget how long my train was until I see photo's like this.

I love this photo of me and my mum from my wedding morning. We both look really happy.

This is from my Mum in laws wedding last Christmas. I was bridesmaid with my sister in law Rosie. It was my first time being a bridesmaid so I was so excited.

My Mum and Dad on their wedding day. They celebrated their 25th Anniversary this year

And this is from our last holiday to Thailand at the start of this year. I have this picture on my bedside table too to remind me of what a lovely lovely time we had. It was probably the best trip we have had.

I love looking back at old photographs and remembering all the good times.

Has anyone else done a similar post? I would love to read it.

My Brother Steven

For those of you who don't know, I have one brother.

He's called Steven and he is 2 years younger than me and 2 feet taller!

He is probably the kindest person I know and is always there whenever I need him (except for when I got into a scrap at high school and a Mars bar was the priority! Ha!)

I wanted to write a little post to let him know I am very proud of him and everything that he does.

I feel very lucky to have a brother who I can also call my friend.

My brother Steven
Is a wonderful guy
He’s funny and smart
I cannot deny

He’s one of those guys
That is interesting and unique
With his original style
He’s one cool geek

Always determined
To achieve any goal
He blesses so many
With his beautiful soul

Love ya Bro!

Winter Bucketlist

I like the fact that we have seasons in England and I love nothing more than watching the colour of the trees change throughout the year and getting excited about the up and coming weather change.

Winter is probably my favourite season.

I wrote a list in my diary of all the things I wanted to do this Winter, so I thought I would share it with you.
  • Go to the Christmas German market in Leeds at least once for warm pretzels and hot chocolate
  • Make my homemade chocolate truffles
  • Have a second attempt at making sausage rolls
  • Go to the theatre with Dad
  • Have hot chocolate with cream, marshmallows and a flake in front of the fire
  • Go for a long walk after lunch one Sunday
  • Afternoon tea at Wentbridge House with my family.
  • Buy a new bauble for the tree
  • Have a get together with all our friends at our house
  • Go to a carol concert
  • Pack a shoe box for Operation Christmas Child for the Samaritans.
  • Harry Potter marathon

Is there anything you ALWAYS have to do each Winter? I would love to know.

Tuxford Windmill

On the drive home from Nottingham on Monday, we decided we needed a little pick me up as we were all feeling a bit down that our weekend was over.

Peter's parents suggested we paid a visit to Tuxford Windmill

Tuxford Windmill is the only fully working independent wind powered flour mill in Nottinghamshire.

And I must say, it is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

You can actually have a tour of the mill while you are there, unfortunately it wasn't open when we visited so we just had to make the most of the adorable little tea room instead..and that we did.

The ladies making the cakes and buns with their own flour for the hungry customers..... which happened to be us.

Possibly the chocolatist chocolate cake ever! Divine.

They also have a little shop where you can purchase their produce.

We made friends with this little cutie too. He was keeping guard at the gate.

It was such a lovely stop off and the staff were so friendly and welcoming.

I will make sure to return for more of that chocolate cake soon!

Family time in Center Parcs

This weekend all my family went to Center Parcs (Sherwood Forest).

It was the first time both Peter's parents and my own had been away together, so I was a little apprehensive, but they got on so well and we had such an amazing time.

I have always wanted a big family getaway (just like they do on Gavin and Stacey) so I was super excited. We had at least 4 'meetings' about the weekend, basically just so we could talk about it and look forward. Of course I devised an itinerary for while we were there, just so we could fit everything in that we wanted to....although a few more hot chocolates wouldn't have gone a miss!

I have been to Center Parcs so many times growing up and I have many great memories cycling in the forest, going on midnight walks with Dad and of course the pancake house! I couldn't wait to go with Peter and show him the ropes.

Our pumpkins for Halloween. The white one on the left was mine, I am pretty proud of it actually. I think they all looked fab though, it was impossible to choose a favourite.

The morning after. A little squirrel trying to take off with our pride and joy..

And trying to get into my bedroom....cheeky!

Mum's preparing breakfast....

...and Dad's enjoying a Bucks Fizz.

Having a stroll to burn off all that pastry.

And then putting it all back on!

Peter booked me a surprise back massage on Sunday morning at the Aqua Sana Spa. It was wonderful, just what I needed.

On the way back to meet the gang, I had a little wonder and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the forest.

The peace and quiet was quickly put to an end after I met the troop at crazy golf.

At the driving range. We weren't much cop at all

Spotting the wild life. I wanted to take him home so Bailey would have a little friend.

On the last night they had a firework display by the beach. We all got wrapped up and ventured out to see the show.

It was a perfect end to a perfect family weekend.

I am now sat cuddled on the sofa planning our next big family getaway!
